Only 14 novices booked, get ready for the tears

Postby shents » Tue Feb 20, 2018 10:58 pm

So we only have 14 novices for Oulton park! Should be nice to have so much track to share between so few.

Fast group looks like a knife fight in a phone box mind.... all those MGP/WSB/TT riders will probably need mirrors and regular blind spot checks.

Really looking forward to the 'I'm WAY too fast for inters/novice' rants when they inevitably have to fill the gaps. Can people please post up any of these gems as they arise? I'm looking for things like:

-My lap times at Oulton are only 15 seconds from BSB pace
-I only crashed twice last year
-I have a HP4
-Lesser riders will be scared of my speed and crash
- I've been a member of the club for 2 years
- Last year I overtook 4 people in one lap
- My slicks will be cold if I'm forced to go that slow
-They don't even get their shoulder down
-My bike puts out 220bhp at the wheel though
-I have a Panigale
-This swingarn is factory spec
-I booked before that guy
-I have done my level 2 at California superbike school
-Dougie/Ian/Dom/Ged basically hates me because I'm faster than him
-I know I always use the run off, I'm too fast for this bikes capabilities
-I have an RSV4
-I use the same lines as Shakey though
-I have heavily prepared by watching YouTube clips
-If I come first then you'll move me back up right?
WATCH THIS! IT'S GOING TO BE MENTAL

We can sort this with a transponder and flying lap times then sort the groups accordingly :D

On a serious note I have never ridden Oulton have only done about 5 track days and probably 10 ARDs so I am happy to go in the novice group.

It happens, I was in the wrong group last year but still made the most of it, had a good laugh playing with the instructors when they came out with us :D

There's no such thing as 'wrong group...'....

I'll do my best to allocate people to appropriate groups, but there are a lot of variables. As you suggest, no matter what group you are allocated, you can still have a good time...

I can always move groups if the instructors feel its appropriate Dougie. No issues mate, I started last year at Snets in the inters having never ridden there before and moved up by the afternoon. Anything to help you guys with the lists

I'm going to have to disagree with you there based on experience and pace you can be in the 'wrong' group.

It's like when track days have sold out space in the 'correct' group and advanced riders book in novice and novice book in advanced because its the only space left they clearly are in the 'wrong' group.

Granted, in this instance people aren't choosing their groups but just as an example.

I'm sure you will do a grand job of sorting it out and will be a fantastic run event as always! Hog roast this year?
